Katrina Survivor Loses Photos, Preserves Old Holiday Negatives

One of the best parts about following up with our customers after every completed order, is learning how people are actually using our service to reconnect with their memories. After all, it’s not about photo scanning or video transfers, it’s about preserving precious memories. Read about our Customer Spotlight, Teresa Taylor and her very touching story below.

Teresa is from Gulfport, Mississippi and has two children Jeremy and Jessica, 24 and 21, with her husband, Kevin. Unfortunately, this amazing family experienced the devastating disaster known as Katrina first hand. “Our house was 8 feet under water and a tornado took most of the roof off, so we had water damage upstairs, too. We lost our two dogs and I lost most of my pictures.”

Our ScanDigital team was able to preserve many of her family memories from the negatives that were luckily untouched. After receiving her order, so wrote us to share her story and said, “You will never know how much getting these pictures back mean to me.”

One photo she is thankful to have is of her two children, then 2 and 5, shown above. “Decorating the tree was always a big event as they were growing up. Our tree was always a little unbalanced during these years. The kids would decorate the tree on the bottom where they could reach with unbreakable ornaments. We’d do the breakables above their reach level. Our tree was always beautiful though when they did the tree. To us, anyway.”

Teresa- thank you again for sharing your story. Stories such as yours remind us how lucky we all are to have holiday celebrations to look forward to this time of year.
