Organize Your Home By Transferring Photos Onto CD

Increase Storage Space While Preserving Memories

photo orgThanks to digital technology, the holidays probably left you with many photos that can be simply shared and revisited whenever you turn on the computer.

But what about old photos from decades past, those hiding in dusty boxes in the attic or high up in a closet somewhere? They arrived long before camera phones and point-and-shoot cameras with LCD screens made amateur photography so accessible. Today, we’re lucky that we don’t have to think about the price of film before snapping away. The images caught just a few decades back, though, should be scanned as photos on CD.

Naturally, January is an ideal month to work at reducing clutter. End-of-year activities have just wrapped up, which may have left your house messier than usual. Yet a New Year is ahead of you, ripe with possibility. It’s only natural to want to free yourself – literally – from the past.

A smart way to move forward is to organize old files and photos. Many of us have boxes full of photos that are yellowing and fading by the hour. They recall good times with humans and pets, like this photo of a “reindeer” dog. Unfortunately, they are not immune to disasters such as fires and floods. A great way to preserve these images, which you can never recapture again, is to transfer the photos on CD. Rather than purchase a scanner and slowly scan each image yourself, you can send in all of your pictures at once to ScanDigital to have them processed professionally and efficiently; we’ll focus on polishing up any weathered photos and making them attractive and easy to share.

The quickest way to tackle this project is to make it a family one. It’s one your kids will definitely enjoy, too – who wouldn’t relish the chance to see their mother or father as a gangly teen or awkward adolescent? And as a bonus, you’ll regain storage space by swapping bulky boxes for slender CDs.

Personalized Photo Gifts Are Thoughtful, One-Of-A-Kind Gestures

Add A Sentimental Touch Of History To New Gifts

photo giftsThe best gifts are personal. They show the time and thought you put into coming up with the idea, and reflect how well you know the recipient. During the holidays, when people give and receive so many presents, you want yours to stand out.

Transferring treasured photos onto CD is the first step to creating a unique gift. You’re probably familiar with personalized coffee mugs, cakes and mouse pads, but did you know you can also display your favorite photos on jewelry, brownies and even lollipops? Take the blanket in this picture, which could keep a child warm early on and provide comfort when he leaves home for college year later.

digital photo frame If you are able to gather enough images from the past, why not share them with others? A Digital Living Photo Frame is a great, fuss-free way to pass on the memories. Rather than purchase a generic frame at a big-box store, you can have ScanDigital digitally optimize and load up to 2,000 pictures onto this frame, so it’s ready to go as soon as the wrapping paper’s off. Or you can have the photos compiled into a Digital Slideshow – complete with title, chapters and music – that anyone with a DVD player can watch.

Scrapbook Image2Now if you’re an avid scrapbooker, you know exactly how much time and energy it takes to produce a single book, let alone enough copies to share with every family member. Now you can make one that benefits the whole clan just by sending us your pages, which we can scan your scrapbooks. This also is a cost-effective method that allows you to share the one scrapbook with all of your relatives.

For personalized presents like these, it’s always a good idea to scan your photos onto CD beforehand. This gives you an opportunity to evaluate your inventory and select the best images. Of course, once friends and family see what wonderful presents you’re giving, they’ll want to do the same the next year.

Plant Bulbs In Fall For Flowers Next Year; Preserve Photos Onto CD

Start Planning Your Springtime Garden Now

Summer has barely ended, yet it’s already time to start thinking about spring.

In the garden, that is. If you would like flowers such as tulips and daffodils next year, fall is the time to consider what you want and where to put it. Unlike seeds, which you give relatively quick results, bulbs are easy to forget about. Typically, you plant them in the fall and neglect them till springtime, when they begin sprouting.

Catalog your yearly accomplishments in the garden by scanning old photos onto CD. This is an excellent way to track your progress and learn from experience. For inspiration, you can visit a farm or region that specializes in bulbs. Tulip fields are a wonderful source of color and instant cheer. This picture was taken at the annual Skagit Tulip Valley Festival in Washington state. Here, the flowers are almost as tall as the young boy!

Planting bulbs isn’t rocket science, but it can be tricky. In warmer climates, you have to refrigerate them for weeks because the soil doesn’t get cold enough. In other areas, you might have to protect the bulbs from pesky animals. Generally speaking, smaller bulbs such as snow drops and crocuses bloom earlier, whereas tulips and similarly large bulbs blossom later. After the bulbs bloom, many should be deadheaded, but the leaves left alone.

No matter where you live, you can “force” bulbs to bloom indoors. All you need is a shallow pot or dish, pebbles, water and sun. Paper whites and amaryllis are two popular bulbs grown inside the home. You may have scanned Christmas photos onto CD that show off these living holiday staples.

The best part about bulbs is the memories you can create with them. The flowers make beautiful bouquets, but look just as elegant as single-stem arrangements. They are sweet, meaningful gifts for loved ones, especially when you consider all of the care and effort you put into cultivating them.
