How it Works - The Digitizing Process

At ScanDigital, our number one goal is to preserve your memories for posterity by creating high-quality digital files from photographs, negatives, slides, video and audiotapes, and film and audio reels. Our number two goal is to make the digitizing process as easy and painless as possible. All you have to do is select the number of media from each menu that you want to get digitized, send it to our state-of-the-art scanning facility, then sit back and take a leisurely stroll down memory lane with family and friends.

Photography

We offer standard scanning of 35mm slides and negatives in two different resolutions depending on your needs, as well as a special media option for other size negatives, slides, or transparencies up to 8” x 10”, printed photos or artwork, and even scrapbook pages. All images are scanned by hand and edited, including cropping, rotating, color correcting, and red-eye removal. If your photos are organized in albums, we're happy to title each digital folder to match the labels on your albums and replace each photo back in its original place within the album. Once we've finished preserving your memories, we will upload your images to your personal account. From there, you can download your scans directly to your computer. This immediate access is free for all of our orders, but if you would also like an USB - don't worry! You'll be able to add that option while placing your order.

Tapes

Our experienced technicians also love to transform obsolete video and audio tapes into forever digital files in either premium or expert resolution. Whether you have favorite home videos on VHS, MiniDV, or BetaMax, nostalgic music on cassettes, or your child’s first words on microcassettes, our technicians will convert them into a forever format you can view or listen to anywhere, anytime. Once we've finished preserving your memories, we will upload the digital files to your personal account. From there, you can download your scans directly to your computer. This immediate access is free for all of our orders, but if you would also like an USB - don't worry! You'll be able to add that option while placing your order.

Reels

Although reel-to-reel tapes aren’t as common as old movie reels, we have the skills and professional equipment to convert both of these old media formats. We can digitize audio and movie reels in 8mm, Super 8, Super 8mm with sound, and 16mm movie formats anywhere from 3 to 7 inches in diameter and 35mm reels measuring up to 14 inches. We offer state-of-the-art digital remastering for audio reels, including noise removal, normalizing, and equalization, so the end results are often better than the original recording. And our movie reel transfer process includes color correction and dust/scratch reduction to ensure the most enjoyable movie experience. Once we've finished preserving your memories, we will upload the digital files to your personal account. From there, you can download your scans directly to your computer. This immediate access is free for all of our orders, but if you would also like an USB - don't worry! You'll be able to add that option while placing your order.
