Negative Scanning Services

Film used to be the best way to capture and keep memories of special events & loved ones, but now film negatives for the most part live in our closets or have been forgotten in a storage unit. Bring back those memories with ScanDigital’s Negative Scanning service and relive your old memories today.
  • Manual Processing

Each negative is digitally scanned by hand to ensure no errors are made during the scanning process

  • Safe and Secure

Your negatives are tracked being delivered to our negative scanning facilities and when we return them so at all times we know where your memories are located.

  • Variety of Negative Formats

Our scanners accept a wide range of negative film formats to include both professional and consumer grade mediums, including 110, 120 & APS

ScanDigital will rejuvenate your decaying negatives with our first class digital conversion service. Traditionally, negatives have served as an imaging safety net in case anything happened to the actual printed photograph. However, negatives run the identical risks as their printed copy and deteriorate just as fast. The only way to guarantee the safety of your memories is to preserve them digitally. Use our negative scanning service to convert your old negatives into newly digital positive images.

We Scan More Than 35mm Film Negatives

Our innovative negative scanning process prevents you from having to unroll film to sort through disorganized strips in hopes of finding your pictures. By transferring your negatives to digital files, we allow you to view your images in their optimal state from your computer or your television. While 35mm negatives are the most common type of negative, ScanDigital is able to digitally convert many other formats.

The negative film formats we can scan include:

  • 35mm negatives
  • APS film
  • 110 film
  • 120 film
  • 126 film
  • Medium & large format negatives bigger than 2”x2”

We manually scan all of your negatives using our secure process. We accept color and black & white negatives in all formats (click here to learn more about our black & white negative scanning process).

Handling Your Negatives During Scanning

Every negative is treated and processed with the utmost precision and care throughout the scanning process. All negatives are individually cleaned, scanned and edited by hand to ensure the highest quality possible. We clean every strip of negatives with compressed air and a lint free cloth prior to scanning. Each negative is scanned with the highest quality scanning equipment. We use Nikon Super Coolscan 5000 scanners for 35mm, 110 & 126 negatives. With Digital ICE technology built-in, these Nikon scanners are the top of the line and necessary for optimal negative scanning. Our highly skilled technicians digitally repair each image, including cropping, rotating, color correction, red-eye and dust removal. Once your negatives have been scanned and processed, your newly digitized images are loaded to CD, DVD, or external hard drive.  Both your negatives and digital images are sent back to you when we are finished.

Should I Scan My Negatives or My Photos?

If you have both your printed photos and your negatives, we usually suggest scanning the negatives as negatives carry more detail than photos, which make for a better scanned image. A photo is like a copy of the negative, so scanning a photo is essentially making a copy of a copy. Our top of the line equipment can repair and enhance the image either way, but it's always best to start with the purest image available.
